This very nice piece below appeared in the late, great Dallas Times-Herald sometime in the summer of 1981.
During that break between my freshman and sophomore years in college, I played a number of tournaments around my native Texas. A sportswriter looked me up, liked my story of college choice, and put together a flattering story.
The only problem emerged when the headline writer got the name of the college I chose wrong. Instead of the college I actually attended and played for, he chose our arch-enemy (and a school that, maddeningly, we never beat in my four years).
