GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK, NJ (well, close enough)
A small handful of you will get the rock reference in the post’s title. The rest of you will lament your lack of education.
I don’t normally post “on location” when I am out of town, but this is too much fun.
I am at the Jersey Shore … not on the show (is it still on?) but teaching the daily Bible Hour at the historic Ocean Grove Camp Meeting.
This week intersects two of my main educational institutions. First, as you probably know, Princeton University is in New Jersey and so tomorrow after my morning teaching gig, I’m driving across the Garden State to see my alma mater as well as some old friends from the United States Tennis Association – USTA (Official).
Secondly, the Ocean Grove Camp Ground and Asbury Theological Seminary have many long-standing connections, including a shared focus on holiness of heart and life. In fact, Asbury’s President, Tim Tennent, is preaching here later this summer. And yes, Asbury Seminary and Asbury Park NJ are named after the same American Methodist Saint, Francis Asbury.
I am teaching on “Crash Test Dummies” in advance of Abingdon Press‘ September release of that book. And the poster/picture I am including contains the summer Bible Hour teaching roster. Look closely at the bottom left and VOILA! there I am.
