I missed church yesterday because Julie, Riley, and I are in the California desert.
After I officiated at a wedding in Mission Viejo on Sunday, we trekked a couple of hours east to Palm Desert that evening.
That lands us today in Indian Wells, home of the BNP Paribas Open, one of the top pro tournaments in the world. Federer, Nadal, Sharapova, and Henin are all here.
The stadium you see at the right is the second largest tennis stadium in the U.S., just behind Arthur Ashe Stadium at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadow, NY.
I think the California desert is a nicer backdrop than Queens. I’m just sayin’ . . .
It’s an event I have long wanted to attend, and the wedding made 2010 the ideal year to go.
