A Good Idea Involving Go Eat Pop Corn

For the last six months, my Men’s LifeGroup and I have been reading the same Scripture each morning. After I read the day’s segment, I then send an email to all the guys giving some background, context, and insight regarding what we’ve read.

Several of them have told me that if it wasn’t for that combination of accountability and resourcing, they wouldn’t read the bible at all.

And guess what? It’s been really good for ME, giving me both daily discipline and a forum to work out my thoughts in writing. (I’m not a “talk-to-thinker” but I am without a doubt a “write-to-thinker.”)

Anyway, some time ago I realized, “this content and this process is pretty good.  Why limit it to one LifeGroup when it could be available to the whole church?”  That’s why during The Fine Art Of Belly-Aching  I provided reading prompts for the daily reading on Facebook.

But for the NEXT series, called ReGroup, we’re taking the concept to a whole nother level. Emails sent to the in-boxes of those who “opt-in” (more on that in a moment).

And the content? Go Eat Pop Corn. Huh? Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians … Paul’s four “mini-masterpieces” that combine his deepest theology with his most compassionate care. The people of the church will do the reading, I will provide daily “prompts,” and together we’ll learn to treasure what is both ancient and relevant on our way to a living relationship with Jesus Christ.
